Paku Jalur Boat Race Festival – Aura Farming Kid

June 20 - August 23

The Pacu Jalur festival is a traditional boat race held annually in Riau, Indonesia. More than a sport, it is a vibrant cultural event that brings communities together. Teams from various villages compete on elaborately decorated longboats, called jalur, which are carved from a single log and can be up to 40 meters long.

The festival is a spectacular display of teamwork, rhythm, and local pride. Each boat carries dozens of paddlers, a helmsman, and a “tukang tari” (dancer) at the bow. This “aura farming” dancer, whose energetic moves are believed to bring good luck, has recently captivated a global audience.

Rooted in a centuries-old tradition that began as a means of river transportation, Pacu Jalur has evolved into a celebration of heritage, community spirit, and art. It is a must-see for anyone seeking an authentic and unforgettable cultural experience in Indonesia.
